Artist Statement

Nature and my relationship to it, has always been an underlying theme in my work. I have often used materials that suggest a personal, yet universal association. Photographic images, letters and handwritten words create an intimate vocabulary which is woven into the fundamental symbolism of my work. This use of familiar materials encourages the viewer to approach and experience the work from an individual perspective.

With the recent public focus on the fragility of our environment, I have been compelled to create “works of conscience” to generate an awareness of the importance of our inter-dependence with nature.
