I continue to expand my formal vocabulary in abstract paintings constructed of charcoal, oil and wax on canvas. As in past work, my use of line to define interrelated shapes is primary to their composition. In this recent work however, these shapes become increasingly ambiguous, as luminous color in degrees of transparency, both define and negate the solidity of these figures. The power inherent in these works lies in a balance of tension and compression within the rectangle creating an emotionally charged space rendered mysterious and ethereal through these relationships.—Ivy Dachman "Color possesses its own sense of motion as it fully,
