Title TK

On exhibit is a kinetic sculpture: Bright Moment

Armonk, NY... The Studio: An Alternative Space for Contemporary Art is pleased to announce a new link to the community! Having received approval from the Town Board, The Studio has instituted a rotating program of sculpture at the Town Hall in Armonk. Dan Bergman is the fourth artist to be featured.

Dan Bergman makes sculptures that show the world given shape by the balance of competing forces and driven by the power of nature, sometimes visible and sometimes not. Bright Moment is a cheerful, shining green presence that is set in motion by the wind and rocks with a gentle movement that expresses the universal tension between gravity and momentum

The artist grew up in Chicago and Cleveland and attended the Ohio State University. He majored at different times in engineering, theater and literature. Immediately after college he worked as a photographer and teacher. In 1964 he went to work for Macy's department stores, originally as a writer and photographer. He stayed for 24 years, the last seven as the Bamberger's division's senior vice president for stores and supervising the 23 units then in the division. Through these years Mr. Bergman continued art studies with the Arts Students League and private teachers. In 1988 he left business to sculpt full time.

Bergman has had a number of installations in New York City and surrounding areas in recent years, most notably in annual BWAC shows in Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn.
